What We Like About the Georgetown Slatback Rocker

 

The classic Georgetown Slatback Rocker by Dixie Seating Company is crafted from durable North American Ash and Hickory hardwoods - the wood that is used in Louisville Slugger bats! Rather than using glue, the construction of the Georgetown Slatback Rocker features precisely machined components and pressure clamping, which allows the wood to expand and contract with weather changes. This chair ships Ready To Assemble, meaning you'll be sitting in approximately fifteen minutes. See below for assembly instructions.


The Weathermaster finish applied to this chair will help protect if from the elements, however the Georgetown Slatback Rocker is designed for use on a covered porch.  If the rocker is used in an unprotected area, constant exposure to the elements will accelerate the weathering process of the chair.

    I love my new rocker! It was easy to assemble and is a beautiful addition to my front porch. My one tiny criticism is that I ordered it in yellow (I believe they called it "goldenrod" ) and my rocker wasn't nearly as yellow as it appeared to be in the website photos. It was more of a sheer yellow stain with the color of the wood showing through. But I easily fixed this by applying a coat of bright yellow paint.

    I purchased 4 chairs and the 1st was extremely easy to assemble. Each chair arrives in 1 large box w/ only the runners being separate from the chair. The only real assembly is to attach the runners to the chair and nail together. Sounds easy except 3 of the chairs' runners had predrilled holes which did not line up with the chairs' feet. After hours of trying to assemble, my husband was so frustrated with the chairs he was questioning why we would order online. Luckily my dad is a handy man and was able to come over and help enlarge the predrilled holes so that the runners could be attached to the chair. Problem now solved and the chairs look great on my porch, but a frustrating experience at first. [...]

    Rocker looks good and assembles easily but somewhere in the manufacturing process two black marks were made in the top runner of the lower chair back while the paint was still wet . These marks were on both chairs we ordered. You would think quality control would catch this.

          We bought these rockers for my son as a house warming gift 2 years ago. They were on a covered front porch. They fell apart in 1 year and were beyond repair. We had to throw them out.
