Linseed Oil Finish and Maintenance
This Brazilian Cherry is pre-applied with an organic linseed oil coating. The wood will turn a deep red color after initial use in the sun. To extend the life of the red color, clean your furniture with a mild solution of dish soap, bleach and warm water, applying the mixture with a soft bristle brush. Rinse well and let air dry. Re-coating fully exposed furniture in average climates three times a year is sufficient. More frequent re-coating may be needed in regions with high sunshine. This keeps the appearance of the finish even and prevents it from looking dried out. If left outside, untreated over time, Brazilian Cherry will weather to a handsome silver gray. If this color is preferred, no maintenance is required.
Water-Based ClearCare Finish and Maintenance
Eco-friendly and non-toxic, the ClearCare finish is a factory-applied, water-based finish with a low luster. It offers addition protection to already durable Brazilian Cherry. The transparent, ClearCare finish allows the grain of the wood to show through for those who prefer a natural look and feel, and is very easy to reapply when necessary (usually one year from date of purchase depending on exposure). ClearCare is superior to linseed oil in that it: prevents checking on the wood, stops the initial bleeding of Brazilian Cherry, significantly slows the graying process, is easy to re-apply with a brush after about 1 year, does not sand until wood has turned gray. You should clean ClearCare finished products with soap and water as needed. Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaning solutions as these could harm the finish.
Reve Finish and Maintenance
The factory Reve finish gives Brazilian Cherry a high sheen and a deep, rich color that allows the grain and details of the wood to show through. It feels very smooth and silky but conveys the distinctive textures of wood. In addition to guaranteeing long-lasting and resistant protection, Reve also improves the aesthetic properties of the wood, enhancing its appearance and elegance. Reve protects and prevents damage to wood caused by dirt, UV rays and moisture to keep your furniture looking beautiful for years without time-intensive maintenance. In fact, products protected with Reve require no maintenance for 3 years and only limited maintenance for the lifetime of the product. Clean regularly with a mild dish soap and water solution to remove the remains of smog, acid rains, and dust that will corrode the coating film over time and reduce its protective properties. Avoid abrasive detergents containing acids, ammonia or alcohol.
